Pioneers Gallery

Pioneers Gallery, also known as The Gallery of the Portuguese Pioneers, was inaugurated in 2003 to honour Portuguese immigrants who arrived in Canada predominantly in 1953, 1954 and 1955. It is currently located on St. Clair Ave in the city of Toronto, not far from where many of the immigrants arrived. The museum holds notable Portuguese books, stories and memorabilia and also acts as an educational resource to show future generations where Portuguese immigration began.

Blue Moth Creative developed the website, implementing a digital archiving and filtering system to organize not only the pioneers’ stories, but also all of the books, photographs, instruments, clothing and historical items that the museum curates. This digital archive allows those who cannot physically visit the space to still enjoy all the educational and memorial benefits of the museum.
